Otsiningo Park was the place to be on October 3rd. Hundreds of people and their canine companions walked to benefit clients of the Southern Tier AIDS Program (STAP). The Doggone Fun on the Run event raised over $14,000.
Funds raised at the Doggone Fun on the Run support the PAWS program. Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) is a program offered to clients of STAP. The PAWS program offers HIV+ people practical support in an effort to keep the love and companionship of their pets. One hundred percent of the money raised stays here in our community.
Special events included: music by The Parlor Cats, Blessing of the Animals, Vendors, Doggie DaVinci’s, Musical Mats, Agility Demonstration by Myrph and a search for hidden bones. Participants enjoyed prizes and refreshments from Outback Steakhouse, Starbucks, Frito-Lay and Target. The presenting sponsor, Petco, provided special treats for all of the 4-legged walkers.
Participants left feeling great not only about the wonderful outing they had provided for their canine friends, but with an understanding that their efforts will allow the clients of STAP to remain on the PAWS program.
